Minneapolis Public Schools and the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ) are partnering together to provide a connected stream of effective supports that will accelerate outcomes for students. The education pipeline being created through this partnership focuses on teaming with families and students to identify individualized solutions to set every student on the path to college.
Together, MPS and NAZ are focused on four clear efforts:
1. Implementing researched and proven education strategies to improve outcomes for students.
2. Parent engagement and education that supports student success through high expectations and high supports.
3. Providing academically focused expanded learning opportunities for students.
4. Investing in groundbreaking reforms at the leadership level.
NAZ is specifically focused on partnering with families that live in a 13-by-18 block "Zone"
of north Minneapolis to prepare children to graduate from high school - college ready. NAZ works one-on-one with families and students through Connectors
(family coaches) and Academic Navigators
(student coaches) who are housed directly at NAZ schools. These services align families and students with opportunities and resources provided by NAZ anchor partners, including career/finance, housing and behavioral health. Families, schools and organizations partner together at every turn to drive success and provide support and solutions to persistent challenges.
