PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
• Dual Developmental Language site: Spanish
• Responsive Classroom and Second Step site (morning meetings, advisories, community building, anti-bullying)
• Spanish as a World Language for Pre-K-8 students
• Students are active in academic competitions: Science Fair, Spelling Bee, History Day
• Local artists from Mural Works will work with students to create original murals
• Mac and PC computer labs (total of 4 labs), in addition to iPad and laptop carts
• Monthly family nights celebrating culture, academics, and student performances
• Middle grades students attend annual field trip to Base Camp with the purpose of team-building and leadership training
• Southside Family Clinic located within the school building provides medical services to the community
• Partnerships with local colleges and universities: Metro State University, University of St. Thomas , Augsburg College, University of Minnesota
• Intermediate students attend annual week long field trip to StarBase with the purpose of experiencing authentic math and science
• Students are supported through additional academic tutoring: AmeriCorps, MN Reading Corps


EXTENDED-DAY ACTIVITIES: Arts, Community Education, Athletics, Student Council, Newspaper (Green Pages), and a variety of educational and recreational after-school classes.
