PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Accelerated Math program for grades 4 and 5, a computer-based supplementary math program
  • Accelerated Reader, a computer-based supplementary reading curriculum
  • Computer labs: two for research, two for math and reading support
  • Family Involvement: PTO information nights in both English and Spanish; school carnival; parent conferences; parent opportunities including; Connecting Parents to Educational Opportunities, curriculum nights and fun activities such as carnival, turkey bingo, etc.
  • Science fair competition demonstrates students’ knowledge of science concepts
  • Southside Family Clinic located within the school building provides medical services to the community
  • After-school program and connections through community-based organizations such as University YMCA, Minneapolis Parks and Recreation, Athletes Committed to Educating Students  
  • Partnerships with Get Ready, General Mills, Metro State, St. Thomas, MADDADS 
  • $100,000 Grant  from Minnesota Department of Education to support instruction in reading 
MIDDLE SCHOOL: Middle school students enjoy an intimate setting with sufficient teacher attention and support. They begin their day in advisory where community and positive relationship building is stressed. Students then embark on their 5-period  learning journey via a combination four academic blocks and one specialist block. Students receive instruction in the core curricular areas such as reading, math, humanities and science. Your child will also have the opportunity to use computer technology in music and compiling research projects. Green Central also offers an extensive array of extended-day and after-school programs. We have a working relationship with the Legal Rights Center and tutoring through the Area Learning Center. Middle grade students can also become a member of the National Junior Honor Society.
