Andersen United  (Pre-K-8)  
Andersen United is a K-8 school located in the heart of vibrant, south central Minneapolis, just one block away from the Global Mid-Town Market. We see ourselves as the heart of the community, which includes a Family Resource Center. We are a learning center that expects academic excellence for all students and celebrates the gift of many cultures represented in our community.
Anishinabe Academy   (Pre-K-8)  

Anishinabe Academy is a Minneapolis Public School that focuses on the unique needs of Native American students and their families. The smallness of the school allows staff to know all the students and to develop relationships with families. During the school day students work toward academic goals in a setting that validates the Native culture and langauge.

Anthony Middle  (6-8)  

Anthony Middle School is located in the southwest corner of Minneapolis. We have an enrollment of approximately 848 students and we are an authorized IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). These are schools that share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Anthony believes is important for our students. We offer a rigorous curriculum and student-centered instruction built on the MYP fundamental concepts of holistic learning, intercultural awareness, and communication. Students and families will find a supportive, collaborative and safe environment for learning.

Anwatin Middle - Authorized International Baccalaureate -MYP/Spanish Dual Immersion  (6-8)  

Anwatin is the home of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme and Spanish Dual Immersion (SDI) Middle School. The Community IB program will serve students in grades 6-8 from western Minneapolis who attended elementary schools where English is the language of instruction. Teachers present curriculum through the MYP’s Areas of Interaction, so that instructional strategies change, rather than the subject content. The model embodies three fundamental concepts: communication (valuing language acquisition in at least two languages), holistic learning (finding the connections across and within the subjects and grade levels), and intercultural awareness (an understanding of a student’s own culture coupled with an understanding and appreciation of other cultures.)

Anwatin Middle Spanish Dual Immersion  (6-8)  

Anwatin is the home of the Spanish Dual Immersion (SDI) Middle School and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme. The Community IB program will serve student in grades 6-8 from western Minneapolis who attended elementary schools where English is the language of instruction. The IB-SDI program is a continuation for 6-8 students from Pre-K-5 SDI programs at Emerson and Windom. All Anwatin students are taught using the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme framework. Students who are in the SDI program will receive part of their instruction in Spanish and part of their instruction in English, while all other students will receive all of their instruction in English.

Armatage Montessori  (K-5)  

Armatage Montessori is a K-5 school located in southwest Minneapolis. Our mission is to create a learning environment that fosters academic achievement, a love of learning, respect for self, others and the world around us. While students are expected to master the same knowledge and skills required of them in any public school curriculum, our Montessori focus includes individualized, hands-on learning that supports each student’s academic interests and potential. Our aim is to help children build the foundational life skills to become lifelong learners, effective collaborators, and skillful problem solvers -- and have fun doing it!

Bancroft Elementary  (Pre-K-5)  

Bancroft Elementary is pursuing the process of becoming an International Baccalaureate (IB) site. This prestigious, internationally recognized program provides a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning. Students will gain greater understanding of global concepts by investigating a "Unit of Inquiry" at each grade level that focuses on: knowledge, skills, strategies, attitudes and attributes. This nurtures in students a powerful sense of their roles and responsibilities as human beings in our society. The Bancroft staff is committed to working with families as partners and to ensure all students are actively involved in their learning. Barton Open  (K-8)  

Clara Barton Open School is a student-centered, public K-8 magnet school fostering a community of active, socially conscious, life-long learners. We  emphasize student-centered learning that is challenging and authentic; cognitive learning that is reflective and expressive; and social learning that is democratic and collaborative.

Bethune Community School  (Pre-K-5)  

Bethune Community School is located in the near north side of Minneapolis in the recently redeveloped Heritage Park Neighborhood. Our school is named after Mary McLeod Bethune, a United States educator, who worked to improve race relations and educational opportunities for Black Americans (1875-1955). The school serves 324 children in grades Pre-K-5. We also have K-5 Autism classrooms and K-5 Developmental Cognitive Disability classrooms. Ninety-nine percent of the students receive free and reduced lunch.

Pierre Bottineau French Immersion  (K-4, growing to K-5 by 2014)  

Pierre Bottineau French Immersion is a tuition-free, newly opened public elementary school enrolling K-4, (with all-day Kindergarten), and growing to K-5 in 2014. French immersion is a proven model in which students from all backgrounds get excellent academic results, cultural competence, and are on the path to becoming bilingual. We celebrate the cultures of 40+ countries around the world where French is spoken to give our students an edge in our increasingly global society. Our entire staff is French-fluent and our school is governed by teachers, parents, and community members. We have a parent group that actively supports the success of all our students.

Bryn Mawr Community  (Pre-K-5)  

Bryn Mawr Community School is a vibrant and warm community school that celebrates diversity and individualized learning. Our dedicated staff works closely together to meet the academic needs of students so that every child experiences success. Supportive relationships are at the heart of our instruction!

Burroughs Community  (K-5)  

Burroughs Community School is nestled on the beautiful banks of Minnehaha Creek, just blocks away from Lake Harriet. This natural setting provides a connection between our science curriculum and our outdoor courtyard living laboratory. Our students' appreciation of the surrounding natural environment is enriched through our many outdoor activities in areas of science, art and physical fitness education. Dowling Urban Environmental   (K-5)  

The mission of the Michael Dowling School Urban Environmental Magnet: We exist to inspire and educate children in a supportive, inclusive setting which promotes academic excellence, confidence, creativity and environmental stewardship.

Emerson Spanish Immersion   (Pre-K-5)  

Emerson Spanish Immersion is a dual language immersion program serving native English and Spanish-speaking students throughout much of Minneapolis. We are nestled in the Loring Park neighborhood offering a unique urban setting to complement language learning. Students learn both languages and achieve proficiency in both English and Spanish. Students of both language groups learn together in the same classroom, where roughly half of the students are native Spanish speakers and half are native English speakers. This culturally rich learning environment helps students grow in their understanding and appreciation of themselves and others.

FAIR School -- Crystal  (4-8)  

FAIR School Crystal is an inter-district fine arts school designed for a diverse student population from the eleven WMEP districts: Brooklyn Center, Columbia Heights, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minneapolis, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Anthony/New Brighton, St. Louis Park and Wayzata (approximately 240 students from Minneapolis). Enrollment is by application and through a lottery system.

FAIR School -- Downtown  (K-3, 6-12)  

FAIR School Downtown is a Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Resource (FAIR) community, empowered by diversity and dedicated to academic excellence and artistic expression. We are committed to equity and excellence for all students, eliminating disparities in achievement and opportunity and preparing all learners to thrive in a diverse world.

Field Community  (5-8 )  

Hale/Field Community School is a K-8 school located on two campuses. Field serves students in grades 5-8 and is located in the Field/Regina/Northrop neighborhood in South Minneapolis. The primary mission of Hale/Field Community School is to ensure that all students learn. To this end, we are committed to providing opportunities for all of our students to reach their highest academic, social, emotional, physical and creative potential in a safe and supportive environment.

Folwell Performing Arts  (K-8)  

Folwell School, Performing Arts Magnet is a K-8 school that offers rigorous academics infused with the arts. Informed, dedicated teachers collaborate with local artists and arts organizations to develop responsible, successful learners who are skilled in orchestra, vocal music, band, theatre, visual arts or dance.

Friendship Academy of the Arts  (K-6)  

We offer an arts infused curriculum and arts specific work in music, dance, theater and visual art. Our curriculum is a solid instructional framework that teaches the core subjects: reading, math, science, social studies, physical education and health. We believe that an arts education is one of the best ways to prepare young people for post-secondary study and work.

Green Central Community   (Pre-K-8)  

Richard R. Green Central Park Community School is home to a richly diverse community nestled in the heart of the city, in proximity to Nicollet and Lake Streets. We are committed to the educational core values of helping students be college or career ready and productive global citizens.

Hale Community  (K-4 (Hale))  

Hale is a school that boasts a strong tradition of excellence. It's nestled in a cozy 1930's neighborhood and serves families with a bounty of extra programs including: Minneapolis Kids (school-aged child care), Read Naturally and after-school activities/tutoring. Hale's culturally diverse families speak seven different languages in a school culture that generates more than 400 volunteers annually.

Elizabeth Hall International  (Pre-K-5)  

Elizabeth Hall International Elementary School provides a unique learning environment, where the staff is dedicated to providing a rigorous education that will help students embrace challenges and thrive in a global society. We are committed to developing the academic, social and emotional growth of all students, and to creating an environment where the learning process is challenging, nurturing and fun.

Hiawatha Community  (Pre-K-2)  

Hiawatha Community School is a Pre-K-2 school within a culturally diverse, urban community, located within walking distance of the Minnehaha Falls and six blocks from grades 3-5 partner school, Howe Community School. The principal and staff are committed to implementing rigorous, instructional strategies that are designed to actively engage students in learning. The teachers and dedicated support staff instruct students, using a balanced literacy and math approach. Hiawatha is a Title One schoolwide program site. We value the established partnerships between the community, family and the school. We proudly earned a MESPA School of Excellence Award, and are continually striving to improve.

Hmong International Academy  (Pre-K-8)  

Hmong International Academy (HIA) is a PreK-8 Minneapolis Public School. We provide all our students rigorous academic learning experiences in all curriculum areas. All core academic subjects are taught in the English language. HIA assures that students succeed in all areas of their education, The school partners with several local community agencies to provide multiple learning and leadership opportunities in our extended day programming. We provide an inclusive, rigorous, and academically focused Hmong Heritage literacy, language and cultural focus to all students. Hmong International Academy welcomes all students who want to enhance their understanding of the Hmong culture and language.

Howe Community School  (3-5)  

Opening in the fall of 2013, Howe School, grades 3-5, will be the upper campus to Hiawatha School's grade Pre-K-2 campus, located 6 blocks to the south. The principal and staff are committed to implementing rigorous, instructional strategies that are designed to actively engage students in learning. The teachers and dedicated support staff instruct students using a balanced literacy and math approach. Howe Campus will be a Title 1 schoolwide program site, where established partnerships between the community, family, and the school are highly valued.

Jefferson Community School  (Pre-K-8)  

Jefferson is a vibrant community school located in the heart of the Uptown area of Minneapolis. Partnerships with our families and our surrounding community contribute to our learning environment, which is both nurturing and stimulating. A wealth of neighborhood amenities and cultural opportunities are available to our students and families.

Nellie Stone Johnson Community   (Pre-K-8)  

Nellie Stone Johnson Community School is conveniently located in the Hawthorne neighborhood of North Minneapolis. Our building provides state of the art computer labs and 21st century classroom instruction. We believe that NSJ students are "Growing Smarter Every Day!"

Kenny Community  (K-5)  

Located in southwest Minneapolis between Grass Lake and Minnehaha Creek, Kenny Community School offers faculty and curriculum focused on academic rigor and student engagement. Our parent, faculty and student-created school gardens and outdoor classroom provide a working laboratory for students to practice what they are learning in science, math, social studies and reading. Our many arts grants and relationships with community organizations help students gain appreciation and understanding of nutrition, physical activity, world music and the arts. Student, staff and parent shared-leadership: working together to create responsible citizens of the future. To understand Kenny you really need to visit. Come early and come often to see what we're all about! On January 25, 2013, the Minnesota Department of Education announced that Kenny has been designated a "Celebration School," an honor that recognizes Minnesota schools that are expertly documenting efforts to increase student achievement.

Kenwood Community  (K-5)  

Kenwood Community School is a K-5 school located in the heart of the Kenwood neighborhood. Building on its solid and impressive 120-year history, Kenwood School combines an inspired, dedicated staff of teachers and administrative leadership with an extraordinarily involved parent body to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children learn and grow. Kenwood embraces the arts as reflected in our motto: "Smarts + Arts = Kenwood School."

Lake Harriet - Lower Campus  (K-3)  

Lake Harriet Community School lower campus (LHCS) is a K-3 school located in the heart of the Fulton and Linden Hills neighborhoods. Students attending this school will have a direct pathway to Lake Harriet Community School upper campus (grades 4-8)

Lake Harriet Upper School  (4-8)  

Lake Harriet Upper School (LHUS) is a 4-8 school, paired with Lake Harriet Lower, a K-3 program. Families have a guaranteed pathway from the Lower program to the Upper program. Sibling preference rights exist between these paired schools. Both are located in the heart of the Fulton and Linden Hills neighborhoods. Lake Harriet Upper School offers a challenging curriculum in an inclusive environment. It is a traditional program with self-contained classrooms until students reach the middle school years when they rotate each hour. LHUS is part of the Expanded School Choice program, partnering with a north Minneapolis neighborhood.

Lake Nokomis Community - Keewaydin Campus  (3-8)  

Lake Nokomis-Keewaydin is the grade 3-8 partner school of K-2 Lake Nokomis-Wenonah. The goal of our intermediate and middle school programs is to prepare all students to be successful in high school and beyond. To that end, our staff and students strive for universal student achievement where every student learns every day and every lesson. As our mission states, "We are nurturing great potential."

Lake Nokomis Community - Wenonah Campus  (K-2)  
Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, walking distance from lakes and parks, you will find Lake Nokomis Community School - Wenonah Campus. Our school community is welcoming and proud of its high academic achievements. Grade K-3 students attend the Wenonah Campus, and will attend the Keewaydin Campus for grades 4-8. Lucy Laney Community  (Pre-K-8)  

Lucy Craft Laney at Cleveland Park is a Pre-K-8 community school. We serve more than 690 students and offer a variety of academic programs that enhance and support learning. This is an exciting time for Lucy Craft Laney Community School, as we undergo significant changes designed to strengthen our academic program for all students. In 2010, Lucy Laney was awarded a $3 million School Improvement Grant from the Department of Education to help accelerate our student achievement results. The school now offers an extended learning day, providing intervention time, focused on the unique needs of every student.

Jenny Lind Elementary School  (Pre-K-5)  

Located in the Lind Bohanan neighborhood, between Shingle Creek and the Mississippi River, Jenny Lind Community is a PreK-5 grade learning center committed to providing a world class academic program to our diverse community. Our experienced staff offer curriculum tailored to your child's individual needs and learning style.

Loring Community  (Pre-K-5)  

The mission of Loring Community School is to educate children for life-long learning in a respectful environment. We support students in their development as knowledgeable, skilled, responsible and confident citizens, capable of succeeding personally and professionally. We are a respectful, caring school community where children, families, staff and the community partners collaborate to help students reach their highest potential.

Lyndale Community School  (Pre-K-5)  

At Lyndale Community School children experience a strong arts infused curriculum, which includes Children's Theater, Jungle Theater, Highpoint Printmaking, and artists-in-residency partnerships. In each grade, students are exposed to Core Knowledge, which is a research-based sequence of study in history, science, geography, social studies, art and music. The sequence of study offers the students a broad range of historical, scientific and socio-cultural topics that build on one another. Lyndale students are inquisitive, active learners, who respect the rights of all and value opinions different from their own.

Marcy Open School  (K-8)  
At Marcy Open School, we view the student as an active partner in learning, and the classroom curriculum is tailored to individual learning styles, developmental needs and the intellectual interests of students. Open education is grounded in belief systems about children as capable learners, teachers as curriculum decision makers, the classroom and school as a microcosm of democracy in action, and the importance of adults and children engaging in authentic learning experiences, i.e., being readers, writers, artists, scientists, mathematicians and engaged thinkers, exploring the world together. Minnesota School of Science  (K-8 (accepting K-7 only for fall 2013))  

The Minnesota School of Science (MSS) is a college preparatory public charter school, serving students in grades K-7 and will add one grade per year up to eighth grade. Mona Moede/Northstar  (High Five)  

Mona Moede/Northstar offers an all-day High Five program. The High Five Program is committed to providing curriculum, based on the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress. Teaching and learning in High Five is designed to help children develop critical knowledge and dispositions that will allow them to be successful as they enter school. High Five is committed to providing content-rich instruction that blends meaningful learning with foundational skills.

Northeast Middle, Authorized International Baccalaureate-MYP  (6-8)  

Located on beautiful St. Anthony Parkway, Northeast Middle School is a student-centered International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme ((IB MYP) with a diverse population of 600 children. Northeast prides itself on a rigorous and engaging curriculum, a positive school climate and a nurturing and supportive school staff. Our students challenge themselves by participating and completing rigorous course work. Our Northeast neighborhood is home to our school and to a highly supportive arts community that engages students in service learning and enrichment activities.

Northrop Community  (Pre-K-5)  

Northrop Urban Environmental is a community school located in southeast Minneapolis. We offer outdoor environmental learning experiences at nearby Lake Nokomis, Lake Hiawatha and Minnehaha Creek, giving students invaluable opportunities to explore nature in the city. High rigor, clear expectations and an environmentally integrated curriculum propel our students to higher level thinking and guide students to reach their academic potential along with becoming stewards of their environment.

Olson Middle  (6-8)  

At Olson Middle School, we will focus our efforts on promoting student achievement and building stronger student, staff and community relationships. Our mission is to create a culture that will instill in students the intellectual, social and personal habits of the mind necessary for success in college.

Pillsbury Community  (Pre-K-5)  

Pillsbury Community is a Pre-K-5 community school located in northeast Minneapolis with a focus on Reading and Math. Our school is home to more than 650 students, 52 percent are identified as English Learners. We are a global community proud to celebrate our diversity!

Pratt Community  (Pre-K-5)  
Pratt Community School is a Pre-K through 5 school, supported by a strong international community due in large part to our close proximity to the University of Minnesota. We welcome and embrace students from all cultural and family backgrounds and are always looking for ways to learn from, honor and nurture our multicultural educational environment. By being a small community school we are able to offer individualized and active learning experiences where each child is known intimately and appreciated for their unique talents and contributions by both teachers and staff. Our ability to draw a heavy population of volunteers from the U of M enables us to offer small group learning experiences where we meet and challenge each child at their particular level across all disciplines. We exemplify our role as a community school by using our nearby community as a teaching resource to integrate the arts into rich student learning opportunities.
 
Ramsey Middle School  (6-7)  

Ramsey Middle School is an innovative, academically challenging environment that empowers each learner to explore possibilities, act with integrity, and create positive change within one's community and the world. Ramsey Middle School is committed to addressing the needs of the whole child while building a positive school culture for students, families, and staff.

Sanford Middle, International Baccalaureate - MYP candidate  (6-8)  
Sanford is a middle school community close to the banks of the Mississippi River. Students, teachers and parents work together to create a challenging educational experience. In offering rigor, challenge, individualized support and tutoring, Sanford aims to customize learning for each student.
 
Seward Montessori  (K-8)  

Seward Montessori School is located in a quiet, southeast Minneapolis neighborhood, adjacent to the Matthews Community Center and Park. We are a learning center, embracing students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. We foster inquiry, curiosity and respect. Strong parental involvement and community support enrich the opportunities for growth among our students.

Sheridan Arts  (Pre-K-5)  

Sheridan is a diverse Pre-K-5 arts magnet school, located in vibrant northeast Minneapolis. We have a history of rich instruction in the arts organized around an integrated arts education. Sheridan provides curriculum and instruction in Readers and Writers Workshop, Math Investigations, FOSS Science, Renzulli, ST Math, LLI Reading interventions, arts integration, and creative writing.  Our Mission is to provide every student with a standards-based educational experience in and through the arts.  Our vision is to establish creative, artful and thought-provoking cultures that will empower students to be lifelong learners.

Anne Sullivan Communications  (Pre-K-8)  

Anne Sullivan Communication Center is located near beautiful Minneapolis parks, the Mississippi River and near the path of the Minneapolis Greenway bicycle and walking trail. Our community school, located in a quiet residential neighborhood, has a strong arts focus and a rich ethnic and cultural mix. Families and teachers are working together to strengthen individual student growth in all instructional areas.

Tatanka Academy  (K-3)  

Tatanka Academy provides proven K-3 educational models, and a holistic approach that includes parenting support mental health services and culturally relevant programming.

Waite Park Community  (Pre-K-5)  

Waite Park Community School is located in the far northeast area of Minneapolis, sharing picturesque grounds with the city's Park and Recreation Program. Our staff is dedicated to excellence in education, and nurturing students in a safe and secure environment. We have a dynamic after-school program, and enjoy the active support of the Waite Park Council and Waite Park PTA in achieving our mission.

Whittier International, Authorized International Baccalaureate  (K-5)  

Whittier International Elementary IB World School offers an opportunity for all students to obtain a rigorous, diverse, inquiry-based education that helps them to become international lifelong learners, effective communicators, creative thinkers and confident risk-takers. Through the IB Units of Inquiry and arts integration, students reflect on their home cultures, develop international perspectives and embrace challenges to enable them to thrive in a global world. Windom Spanish Dual Immersion   (Pre-K-5)  

Windom Dual Immersion School (Spanish/English) is a Pre-K-5 school located in the quiet, leafy Windom neighborhood. We serve a diverse student population in which students learn the standard curriculum through academic instruction in Spanish and English. Students achieve proficiency in both languages, grouped in classrooms generally comprised of half native Spanish speakers and half native English speakers. In grades K-1, the language of instruction is approximately 90% Spanish and 10% English, gradually shifting to a 60/40 ratio by grade 5.
